Hurston Holt

Hurston Holt, 81 years old, left this earth on Thursday, March 21, 2024 surrounded by family, and after a long illness, in which he battled bravely.

He was born on February 5, 1943 in Windsor, Kentucky, the son of Ruby and Berlin “Byrd” Holt. He graduated from Russell County High School and attended Western Kentucky University. He met and married his college sweetheart and best friend of 60 years, Martha. He attended the University Church of Christ and lived a life of faith to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a wonderful provider for his family. He worked at Dresser Industries Instrument Division in Berea, Kentucky for 28 years and had many wonderful friends. He loved spending time with his family and friends, being a fan of Western Kentucky University, going to Oak Island Beach, and working out at the YMCA.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Martha Evelyn Lee Holt; his parents, Ruby and Berlin Holt, and his sister Glenodine Thomas.

He is survived by his children, Evelyn Hunter, Joe Holt (Robin), Michelle Berry (Allen) and Marsha Christopher (Zachary Williford), his grandchildren, Abigail Borchers (Jack), Beth Hunter, Steven Holt (Haley Slavey), Emma Alford, Alania Williford, and Harley Williford and one great-grandchild, Ivyanna Slavey.  He has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was dearly loved by his family, and friends because he loved dearly.        

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with the service at 7:00 PM with Bo. Jay Dixon officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. www.cpcfh.com
